Kim Lake
singer/composer/film artist
A lover of the quiet, blurs the lines, with her minimalist approach to sound.
Raised in St. Louis, she was heavily influenced by B.A.G. (The Black Artist Group), an avantgarde jazz organization, that inspired her free, open and intimate approach to the music.
Kim has worked with master jazz pianist Geri Allen, Meshell Ndegeocello, The Roots,
Angelique Kidjo, Oliver Lake Big Band, Vernon Reid, Mary J. Blige, Bilal, De La Soul, Marc Cary, Black Rock Coalition, James Hurt and others.
She also has tv and film credits as well, which includes Saturday Night Live and an appearance in the Sundance Award winning film, Alive Inside, based on the healing powers of music.
Recently, Kim has become an experimental film artist, known as Tall Trees, and her short film, Little Church, debuted at the
Billie Holiday Film Festival,
commissioned BY NYFA.
Kim will be releasing her
debut EP,
this summer

Back for another year of unrestricted improvising string sets, the Firey Strings Company partners with 52 Studio Arts in presenting IMPROV Xlll , an exciting program of cutting edge artists from NYC and beyond. Improvisers, Jazz artists, World renowned musicians, electronic specialist, acoustic players all converge on #JazzDay as part of the Herbie Hancock Institute's International Jazz Day Festival. For IMPROVXll String players and composers will showcase new techniques, sing , play, working electronic instruments and new ideas.
